I had a random thought yesterday on the subject of 'Time Outs'. As a child I wasn't really ever put in time out. (We got spanked.) I feel like it has become increasingly popular because parents either fear or just don't want to spank their kids. Which I don't get! I know a lot of kids that need or needed to be spanked!
Ok so anyways, I think the idea of a 'time out' came about when Stella was throwing a very rare temper tantrum. Why are time outs even punishment? If D came home today and said, 'Sarah you need to go to time out.' I would say thank you, hell yeah, hallelujah... I think you get the picture. Time out= you get to sit in an area where no one talks to you and you don't talk either. Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!
Between my 8 month old and 35 year old peace in this household is few and far between. The idea of peace and quiet before 9pm sounds amazing!
Agreed, but only if you are allowed to bring a bottle of wine to time-out.
