Stella is 19 months and I am 31 weeks plus preggo- so what is D up to with this craziness? A very hyper active toddler that works the system like no one else and a very slow wife that works the system as well ;) (I'm pregnant it's my right!) I can definitely say D is exhausted- but I am pretty sure he loves it all the same time.
'Working the system' for Stella normally occurs at nap time or night time. When she knows we are just about to put her to bed she all of a sudden isn't cranky anymore. She wants to play, laugh, talk, etc. D falls for it every time and is sorry he does. She can only keep that act going for about 30 minutes then just falls to pieces and is way worse to handle. At night D and I normally put Stella to bed together these days because apparently the cord somehow got reconnected between her and I. And we can't do anything without mommy (not complaining, just more work sometimes.) Every now and then she will let D put her to bed and she is just cracking me up when I hear her. Last night I heard her say, 'honey, I love you.' Then when that wasn't getting her out of bed I heard, 'no no no daddy.' If that doesn't work she will either start to run around in her crib and try and get him to play with her or the crying begins. Either way she's pretty smart. Daddy is a sucker for her and she knows it.
'Working the system' for me occurs everyday at anytime! I will not divulge my secrets because D does read this once in a blue moon!
What's going on with Gracie? I know I stink talking about being pregnant like I did in my last pregnancy with Stella- but it was all so new then and you have time to be self absorbed. Stella leaves me no time to be self absorbed :) I however will go over some highlights. I have only had 2 crazy moments with this kiddo which is way down from the 1st. The first incident happened in Feb (I think) and I had to go to the hospital to go get a upper ab ultrasound due to severe pain I was experiencing. I have no clue what it was but everything was clear and they said it could've been growing pains. (It wasn't gas- people!) The second incident occurred about 3 weeks ago when I was convinced I was leaking amniotic fluid. Turns out I wasn't. I will spare the details of what it was- but I will tell you I wasn't peeing my pants like my sisters told me I was! Otherwise the pregnancy has been a breeze and has actually gone by pretty fast. Gracie is not competing for a gymnastics team like Stella was in my belly. She is a lot more chill and her heart beat is always in the upper 140s (Stella was always upper 160s). I decided Gracie is either punking us with this chill demeanor OR the Gods are on D's side for us to have another baby after Gracie. If that's the case they better get on my requirements! Which include winning the lottery, hiring a maid, nanny, and surrogate. I don't think that's asking too much in exchange for a third... DO you?
We are pretty excited about Gracie and try to talk about her everyday to Stella. We are 1/2 done with her room. We have the room cleaned out from being a guest room (which was a LOT of work) and we have her crib set up. We have to repaint the walls from mine and Kim's excellent painting job (which I even paid Kim to help so maybe I should call her and tell her to fix it), hang all the decor, and get a rocking chair. No too bad- but it does sound like D better get started!
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!
