Stella's 1st Solo...

So... I signed Stella up for the second session of summer dance (ballet/tap)- and our first day was today. This was a solo event, in which it was not a 'mommy and me'. It was just Stella. By herself. Alone. Can you feel my anxiety yet? I knew it would be epic. It was either going to be great or a complete failure. Let me relive those 55 minutes for you.

4:31pm
Stella enters the class, by herself, on her own, no prompting. You get it. Side note: she was actually eager to do it.
4:33pm
In enters Toddler R and Toddler B both crying for their moms.
4:34pm
Me- Oh Sh##. Now I start praying to baby Jesus/as well as speaking to Stella telepathically (and no I am not channeling Tom Cruise)- 'Please don't pay attention to them Stella. Please don't pay attention. You like dance. You LOVE dance.'
4:38pm
Baby R is escorted out of dance to her mom- bc she is just too hysterical. I see through the tiny window they allow us- Stella is starting to now question this.
4:40pm
Stella is now crying for her mommy. CRAP.
4:42pm
Stella is still crying but following directions. Ok, I can live with this. She is crying- but at least she is pointing those toes.
4:50pm
No longer crying but has a major frown.
5:00pm
Did I see a smile? I did. Until she spotted me through the parents tiny window. Now I hear crying. Crap!
5:05pm
D says she's smiling again and now tap dancing!
5:26pm
It's over. Thank you. We made it through the WHOLE dance class. AND surprisingly it wasn't mine that was escorted out.

Seriously if someone would have said one of these kids will be escorted back to their mother- I would have definitely said it would have been mine. She surprised me. Stella did much better than expected! My fingers are crossed that next Thursday will not result in tears!

5:45pm
Mommy pours a very large glass of wine.

Good times!

  2. It was definitely good to see you! We need an adult night next time. I promise I will be more involved in conversations! My kids make me nervous as I never know who is going to do what! And girl it was only class #1 we still have 4 more for this session. I am still betting she will be escorted out ;)
